solemn landmark of Kobe Kachoen Nagayamon Entrance
A huge wooden building stands at southern end of the premises of Kobe Kachoen, facing car park. This is Nagayamon, the main entrance of the Garden. It is an enlarged replication of the Nagayamon Entrance of the Kamo Palace in the Kamo Garden, the origin of our group.
Originally, inside of Nagayamon was partitioned into many rooms for servants' quarters, workshops etc.. In case of the one in Kobe Kachoen, many rooms are arranged along the wall to exhibit many kinds of birds, mainly owls.
