Water Lilies Zone
Water Lilies Zone occupies the western part of the Main Grasshouse, extending north to south.
Two ponds in the zone are filled with colourful tropical Water lilies in full bloom all the year round, making the zone a must for photographers.
Tropical Water Lilies Collection
Nymphaea "Sky of Awaji", a hybrid between N. "Pink Leopardess" and an anonymous hybrid. This large cultivar with double-petaled, violet flower were named here in 2009. N. "Yasuhiro", an intrasubgeneric hybrid between N. gigantea(subgenus Anecphya) and N. "White Colorata"(subgenus Brachyceras). Intrasubgeneric hybrid of Nymphaea hardly succeeds. This cultivar can be called a kind of miracle.

Victoria Native to South America, Victoria is a fast-growing aquatic plant, bearing leafpads more than 1 metre across in about a several months after seed germination. Lower surface of leafpad is covered with hard, shine spines that protect leaves from giant herbivorous fishes, and its edge stands upright to push away other aquatic plants. Flower, 15-30cm across, opens from the early evening to next morning. It is pure white on the first day of bloom, turning pinkish on the secend day.
A leafpad of Victoria is up to 2m or more, webbed with veins.Largest leafpad is said to support about 100kg, but the leaf itself is very fragile.
Papyrus Sedge(above picture) and some other wetlant plants are grown in this zone.	You can feed tropical fishes (Platyfish, Molly, Guppy etc.) in the ponds with a cup of food at 100yen.
